Iago
Nyx

Nyx is on the taller side, standing at 5ft 8in in height. With longer limbs than would be considered normal and missing organs, thanks to constant meddling with magics, she’s lighter than she looks, but remains slender and lithe. She has platinum blond hair that is messy and wild, hacked off with a knife at various lengths. Bright inhumanly blue eyes that seem to change shades with the light. She’s fair in complexion with a splattering of freckles, and a perpetual smirk that graces her thin lips.Nyx has a deep southern belle accent, from her time spent in that part of the country. She’s also covered in thin scars and tattoos of mythological creatures, and a small Rabbit on her ankle.

Nyceera Belladona

Nyx was born Prudence Hawkins to a family in England. When she was five, they settled in Roanoke Colony, only to disappear along with every other colonist. Weather or not Nyx knows what happened, she’s never said. But she ended up with the Iroquois indians under the name Onida (one who is searched for), and adopted by a Shaman.

This shaman, even back then, was part of the magical community, and began to teach the young girl magic. She experimented on her own, learning quickly and delving into her own form of study. She had a horrific fascination with blood, using it to draw runes and glyphs and other patterns. She began to experiment with modifying herself. Defensive magic at first, strong and protective. She never explained why, because her wishes were respected and no one talked about her origins. However her magic suggested something horrifying had happened to the young girl before the natives took her in.

After the shaman died, she fell in with the next Shaman, still a rather young woman to many people’s surprise. The natives began to fear her and she ran, living in the woods, occasionally amongst the colonials. She fought in wars, causing rumors of devils and demons to run amok. She was a wild and untamed woman, caring only about her own life, and her own continued existence.

She was around for the forming of the first Shadow Council, and protested against it, against the rules, arguing that this new country was for magical Freedom as much as it was for Religious freedom. Nyx lost her argument, and refused to abide by their rules. The first shadow council was very short lived, as she successfully slew two thirds of their members before being forced to flee. In the end it was Ben Franklin, Archmage, that nearly ended her life. She vanished into the bayous of what would become Louisiana, and stayed for a long time, through the purchase and the civil war, doing her own thing in New Orleans.

Once she was sure that it was safe to travel again, Nyx began to explore the country, with the strong accent of a southern belle and a fierce passion for anarchy and fun. She tried to stay under the radar of the shadow council, knowing she was on their list of dangerous people. She was a strong feminist in the sufferage movement, “helping” things along in her own way, and even sought to inspire Nikola Tesla, a promising mage who just wanted to make the world a better place. Sadly there was a movement amongst the  magical groups to cut themselves off completely from the world and that the world should not benefit from their gifts, and some influential people bankrolled Edison to destroy her friend’s credibility. When she struck back and he’d found out what gruesome punishments she’d extolled in his name, it broke the poor man. It's one of the only things she’s done that she feels true remorse for.

Nyx likes to get involved in politics, but refuses to directly affect the outcomes of things. It's just not democratic. In the 70s, she was involved with the hippies, and in the 80s joined a punk rock mage band called the Blood Kittens. She’s been focusing more lately on the shadow council, convinced that they’re getting too powerful and too controlling again, and that they need to be taken down a notch
